What Sets Us Apart?

01 / Bespoke Feedback and Next Steps

Every child receives a personalised assessment of their chess abilities, highlighting strengths and areas for development. Invitations will be sent to selected players for weekly Elite and Development Squad training

02 / Structured Tournament Experience

Participants take part in a professionally run, six-round chess tournament using digital clocks and official rules.

03 / Expert Coaching for Every Level

Children are guided by experienced, DBS-checked coaches in carefully grouped sessions tailored to beginner, intermediate, and advanced players. A big win for children is that our coaches have experience playing for the England junior team.

  • The event is designed for children aged between 7 and 13, from complete beginners to experienced young players. Children are grouped by age and ability to ensure they feel confident, supported, and appropriately challenged throughout the day.

  • No. Prior tournament experience is not required. Tournament rules, clocks, and etiquette are clearly explained before play begins, making this event an excellent introduction to competitive chess for newer players.

  • Ability groups are formed using information provided during registration, combined with informal assessment during the coaching sessions. Tournament sections are split into A (experienced) and B (beginner) categories within each age group to ensure fair and enjoyable competition.
